The Tuscaloosa Public Library is enjoying the 4.0 update to its highly-successful Freegal Music Service which benefits the TPL library card holders.

The Tuscaloosa Public Library’s patrons are enjoying significant new benefits with Freegal 4.0, including:  access to over 4 million new songs from 12,000 labels from around the world; a brand-new interface with a new-generation search and browse function; the ability to download from a selection of 8,000 popular DRM-free music videos and several other crowd-pleasing features.   Now, the library’s digital music collection will top 7 million songs, from over 28,000 labels including Sony Music Entertainment’s catalog of legendary artists. The labels originate from over 85 countries around the globe.

The library launched Freegal Music last summer, and is now one of over 3,000 library authorities offering the service.

The Freegal Music Service has free mobile apps for registered cardholders of subscribing libraries.  The Freegal Music apps are available in the Apple® App Store and Google Play®. The music downloads can be accessed at http://tuscaloosalibrary.freegalmusic.com .

“We are very excited to offer a service like this that delivers great music, compatibility with lots of devices and simplicity of use.  We think this upgrade will be incredibly popular with our patrons and will help the library in marketing all its services to the community,” said Amy Patton, Director of Collection Development.
